What is obstetrics?
Obstetrics is a medical specialty focused on the unique health care women require during pregnancy. When should I begin obstetric care?
Dr. Paciuc determines when you should start obstetric care based on your personal health and pregnancy needs. In general, most women begin prenatal care eight weeks after their last menstrual period. Early and regular visits to the OB/GYN ensure a healthy and happy pregnancy for both you and your baby.
What can I expect during my obstetric visits?
Dr. Paciuc is unlike any other obstetrician in Manhattan, which is why he’s been recognized as a top doctor in New York. His philosophy of care combines the implementation of the highest standards of care to ensure the maximum possible safety of you and your child, while at the same time respecting your autonomy and personal wishes for your pregnancy.

All of your prenatal care, including some of the ultrasound exams, is performed in the comfort of Dr. Paciuc’s spa-like boutique office. Dr. Paciuc works in tandem with maternal-fetal medicine specialists and when requested, works with a network of gifted and experienced doulas.
What are my delivery options?
Dr. Paciuc offers you the option of delivering your baby at either Lenox Hill Hospital or Mount Sinai West, the latter being the only hospital in New York City that offers a natural birthing center.
Dr. Paciuc is well-known for a vaginal birth after C-section (VBAC) and has the highest success rate in the area.
During vaginal births, Dr. Paciuc employs measures to attempt to prevent tears and episiotomies, and if an episiotomy is unavoidable, it’s repaired meticulously. If a C-section is necessary, the skin incision is closed patiently and carefully as well, to minimize scarring and visibility. Whenever feasible, delayed cord clamping is performed.
